Where Marietta Roads Are Hardest on Your Alignment (And Why That Matters)

Marietta drivers know certain roads. Cobb Pkwy north of the Square has been under various forms of repair for years and has the patched-pothole geometry to prove it. The Powers Ferry intersections have an off-camber transition that’s hard on suspension and alignment. South Marietta Pkwy west of I-75 develops seasonal heaving from summer heat that can put a vehicle out of spec without the driver noticing. And every Cobb County parking lot exit has at least one curb you can clip when turning out of a tight space. None of this is unusual — it’s just Marietta. It’s also the reason most Marietta vehicles need an alignment check more often than the manufacturer’s service interval suggests.

On Marietta-driven vehicles, toe is usually the first measurement to drift out of spec. Toe is the most sensitive to impact — hitting a pothole at speed or curbing the inside front wheel during a tight parking-lot turn can move toe by a fraction of a degree, which doesn’t sound like much but is enough to cup tires within 5,000–10,000 miles. Camber is more stable but drifts over time as control-arm bushings age in the heat. Caster, the hardest angle to disturb, only drifts after significant impact — a hard curb strike at speed, a major pothole hit, or after struts have been replaced.

And on newer vehicles with electric power steering and lane-keep assist, we recalibrate the steering angle sensor as part of the job — not because we want to upsell you, but because the alignment isn’t really finished without it.
